SEOUL (Reuters) – Hyundai Motor and Apple Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 plan to sign a partnership agreement for autonomous electric cars by March and start production in the US as early as 2024, local newspaper Korea IT News reported on Sunday.

The report follows a statement by Hyundai Motor Friday that these were early talks with Apple after another local media company announced that the companies were planning to launch a self-driving electric car in 2027, reducing Hyundai shares by nearly $ 20 % increased.

Citing industry sources, the latest report said the couple plans to build the cars at the Kia Motors Georgia plant or jointly invest in a new plant in the U.S. with plans to add 100,000 vehicles in 2024 Factory with an annual production capacity of 400,000 vehicles. Kia Motors is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motors.

According to the report, Hyundai and Apple plan to release a “beta” version of Apple vehicles next year.

Both Hyundai Motor and Apple had no immediate comment.

Reuters reported last month that Apple is pushing autonomous auto technology and plans to produce a car as early as 2024 that could contain its own groundbreaking battery technology.
