(Reuters) – The US Food and Drug Administration announced on Friday that it would work swiftly towards finalizing and issuing an emergency permit Pfizer Inc (NYSE 🙂 COVID-19 vaccine.

A panel of external advisors to the FDA voted overwhelmingly on Thursday to endorse the emergency use of the vaccine and paved the way for the agency to clear the shot for a country that has lost more than 285,000 lives to COVID-19.

The agency has also notified the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the warp speed of the operation so they can carry out their plans for a timely distribution of the vaccine.
