(Reuters) – The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on Friday asked Iran to expedite its investigation into the crash of a Ukrainian airliner in January.

The recommendation of the ICAO, a specialized agency of the United Nations that works for the safety of international air traffic, comes almost 10 months after a Ukraine International Airlines flight was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile and 176 people were killed.

“We had several talks with the Iranian CAA in which we asked their authorities to speed up the investigation into the accident,” said Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the ICAO Council. (https: //
